Tortas y Tacos Israel.
A very traditional place in Playa, but seems that they will relocate.

Dr. Taco.
The owner is a physician but decided that he enjoyed more to feed people than cut'em.
10th Ave. btw 8th & 10th Streets. In front of Plaza Pelicanos.
Paleteria y Neveria (Ice cream parlor)
Same block as Pizza Pazza and Dr. Taco, and a refreshing dessert after those lunch or dinner options.
Tacos Billy the Kid.

Real cheap and very authentic, this is not a place for the cruise ship tourist, ;)

Super Carnes de Monterrey
This is a butcher shop, but they also prepare meals on site if you are too impatient to try the Arrachera steak.
1st street south between 20 & 25th Avenues. Close to the airport.
The Tacombi. (a blend of Taco and Combi the name for the minivan in México).
12th street bwn 5th & 10th Avenues. Outside La Santanera dance club, in front of El Oasis.
More authentic food than this, very difficult.
Fresh fruit at the main square, this ladies sell all kind of fruit, already sliced and ready to munch, you can pick from what the already have prepared or ask for a special combination of fruits.

La Tarraya, the first restaurant in Playa (or so they claim), fresh seafood with very Yucatecan flavor. Cheap prices and very good cuisine.
Tacos Arabes "Israel"
Tacos al pastor are a variation of Tacos Arabes, main difference is that "arabes" have no marinade with achiote.
This is the salsas table, from extremely hot on the left to mild on the right. Don´t forget.
El Cejas.
24th Street & 30th Ave. Not in the touristic zone of town.
Seafood restaurant with origin in Mercado 28 from Cancun.
Very nice selection and very fresh seafood. Medium ranged prices.
The ADO bus that goes directly to Playa del Carmen, beware, there are some that goes to Cancun instead, look at the windshield sign.
